This picture is my favorite because it pretty much sums up our entire time getting her pictures taken...it is amazing to me how the can capture those few brief seconds where she wasn't crying to reaching for me. This was much easier last year.

SNOW!!!
Now I know I've been in Kentucky for the past two years and haven't seen very much snow, but I was not expecting snow like this until at least Christmas. I am not complaining. Lilly was very interested in it, and since she was just standing at the sliding glass door crying to go out on to the porch we decided to get bundled up and head to the park and check out the snow. It was cold but she loved it!

It is a little hard to pick up a snowball with mittens on!

This year instead of just going trick or treating for candy, Tom took the youth group trick or treating for canned goods. For it being our first year doing this in hummelstown, it went amazingly well, we collected a bunch of canned goods, and had some very good costumes. I of course think Lilly's was by far the best, or at least the cutest.

Settling In

We are back in PA and finally have a place to live in Hummelstown. We are just about settled in and starting to enjoy the area.

Checking out the creek - we are lucky enough to have a beautiful trail that goes on for miles with-in walking distance of our new apartment. we are all enjoying it very much, lilly especially loves the duck pond and creek...although these do not prompt her to squeal (a loud ear-piercing noise) with delight like a dog or any moving animal that comes across her path.

Much needed Vacation

After all the craziness with moving back to PA we crammed into my parents car and headed to Letchworth State Park in NY. The trip was wonderful...it was good to just get away from all the chaos of our lives, relax and experience God's beautiful and amazing creation. We saw some of the most magificant waterfalls....I highly recommend a visit to Letchworth State Park for those
who have never been there. Here are just a few pics from the trip...ENJOY!

Long time coming

First camping trip to Smokey Mountains National Park. We had the most beautiful campsite and Lilly did amazingly well. We then meet up with our dear friends Mike and Kristen Vazquez for one last visit before our move north to PA.

Two of our wonderful friends Josh and Julia got married March 29th.....which meant another visit from Tommy. It just so happened that Chels (my friend from high school) and her husband Will went to college and worked with Josh at a summer camp years ago. We had a wonderful weekend....the wedding was beautiful...the kids loved playing with one another....while Chels and I enjoyed catching up. Here are a few pics from the weekend:

Laundry baskets: She discovered what fun it is to get in the laundry basket and play. Every thursday she has a playdate with her friend Maria....one of their favorite things to do is be drug around the house in a laundry basket together.

For whatever reason this red ring is her favorite thing to play with while jumping.

We love bathtime

Food : by far her number one.... she gets extremely excited when she knows food is on the way.....it is usually best to hide the food from her until it is completely ready. most days we can't shovel it in fast enough and if we don't watch her or regulate the amount of finger food in front of her or she will have it in her mouth all at once.

She loves cups....she'll drink from her sippy cup, but would much rather have a big girl cup to drink from and play with.

New favorite toy...simply for the fact she can stand up and play with it. She still isn't crawling, but she loves to stand and walk around every where with the help of whoevers fingers are closest.

The Christmas Update

Lilly's first christmas gift

.... the years get better and better.....we've certainly had our big changes over the past few years...getting married, moving, becoming parents..... but with each big change our lives just keep getting better and better. Tom and I are continually amazed at all God has given us. It is hard to not feel Gods love and presens in our lives when you look into the eyes of Lilly. I think we have both decided that there is nothing more amazing (and challenging at times) than having a child.

on to the update:

Tom: Has adjusted to the life of the stay at home, work part time and go to seminary full time dad. While its been a challenging semester, its been a semester of much growth and precious time with Lilly. He has about one more year of classes then will successfully have completed the MDiv program at Asbury. While he enjoys his classes (some of them), he is looking forward to the day when he can be putting all this time and energy into use. He can't wait to have a youth group of his own.... to come along side students and show them what it means to walk life along side the Lord. He is also looking forward to being able to get out and use the canoe we got for Christmas and fish much more this semester.

Sarah: Loving every part of being a mom. I am looking forward to that day when i can be a full time mom and wife thought. While working full time and being a mother is the hardest thing i think i have ever done, i am very glad that i have a job where i can provide for my family. My job has been going well, I've learned a lot....but i am still looking forward to going back to a nursing job where i am involved more in patient care. Had my first spelunking experience....we were on a family retreat with our church and there was a mountain with a cave in it. Naturally with tom and a few of the youth girls encouraging me i gave in and wiggled my body through a 20 foot hole about the size of trash can to get to the cave. It was quite the experience.

Lilly: Growing like a weed. She is the easiest baby, I'm convinced. She is in a wonderful mood most of the time, always smiling, especially when she is around people (shes is very much a little flirt). She is rolling all over the place, almost sitting up on her own, grabbing for everything, loving all new foods we try, blowing bubbles and talking all the time. Its hard to believe she is already 6 months.

Other news: We are looking to move back to PA sometime this summer. Tom will finish most of his classes this semester, than take a few summer classes and then we will see what God has instore for us.....whatever it may be we are just excited to be closer to our families.

We wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!! May God be with you and bless you in the year to come. For our friends and family not in Kentucky we miss you and look forward to the time we get to see you again.

Now that we have got the hang of eating cereal down, Lilly has decided it would be sooo much more fun if after every bite she put her arm in her mouth to push the cereal all over her arm and mouth. Its rather adorable. She loves her cereal, she is like her mom, she LOVES food. Most of the time I can't shovel the food in fast enough for her.

Thanksgiving..and a boyfriend??

Tom had to work on Thanksgiving so we were unable to go home to family. Luckily for us we had some visitors. One of my high school friends, Chelsey, who is now also married and had a baby boy Tommy, a few days before I had Lilly came to visit with her husband Will. We had a wonderful time together and enjoyed some very good food, I would have to say for amitures Chels and I did a pretty good job with the dinner. Lilly and Tommy loved playing together. As always the visit was too short, but definatly made Thanksgiving for us.

A visit from Grandma Kaden

Two weeks after the Carr g-parents left, we were blessed by a nice long visit from Grandma Kaden. Lilly loved having Grandma here because it ment she got that much more attention during the day when mommy was at work and daddy was doing his school work. We had a fun time of shopping(of course), playing games and relaxing, but we did miss having Grandpa here. We were all sad to see grandma kaden leave. We feel so blessed to have such wonderful families and it is hard being so far away from everyone. We miss you all and love you!!!!

New Carr family member

Nana and Pop pop Carr came for a visit in mid October. They took a long weekend and drove to Tennessee first to pick up a new puppy then came up to Kentucky for a few days. The puppy they picked up makes 5 dogs in the Carr household, kind of crazy, but after three dogs whats one or two more. needless to say the new puppy, Brant, was absolutly adorable and only made Tom and I want our own puppy that much more. (it will be the first thing we do after we move out of our apartment) Lilly loved visiting with nana and pop pop and hated to see them have to leave.

ROAR!!!!!!
Halloween was spent with the youth group doing our annual Ask and Share. We get all dressed up and go around trick or treating, only instead of asking for candy we asked for canned goods for the food bank (and some candy). For being extreamly tired, Lilly did wonderful , smiling and keeping everyone entertained as always.

Tom has a beat with the students that he will buy ice cream for the student that beats his costume, hence the baby outfit. I will say it is a bit more attractive then the last two years, he dressed up as a women and a ballerina.

We started our first cereal at about 16 weeks because Lilly was wanted to eat at all hours of the night, which wasn't so much fun for mommy when she would have to get up to go to work.

3 months and.....
-beginning the signs of true laughter

First Hike

The Monday before I had to go back to work we decided to get out and enjoy the day in the woods. We went hiking at Ravens Run Nature Sanctuary, the closest place to us that is wooded and has trails to walk (not quite the same as hiking to the top of a mountain but still beautiful). Lilly loved it so much she fell asleep by the end of the trail.

1st Vacation

About 1 mon. after Lilly was born we were lucky enough to get a few weeks off to head home to PA and NJ to introduce her to family and friends. The 9 hour trip to Pa went better than I think either of us expected. Lilly slept, we would stop about every 3 hours to take a break and so I could nurse her then back in the car we would go. We were in Pa for a week, and were able to have picnics with both the Carr and Keath families. It was wonderful! We also got to see some friends. Lilly also got to meet the heard of dogs living with my parents now. My sister Katie is back home now, which makes the total number of dogs 4, with a new one to come late fall.

We then drove to NJ, normally a 3 hour drive, but seeing as how we had it planned to make it there before Lilly needed to nurse again the drive turned into a 6 hour drive. Construction on I-78 (as always). So while sitting in the traffic, I climbed out of my seat and pulled Lilly out of hers to nurse her in the traffic, which worked out well. Once we got there we had a fabulous time see all of our family and friends. We were there just a few days and decided to make the trip to MI to see Tom's mom's side of the family, with a stop at Niagara Falls. It was a long trip but worth it once we got to MI and were able to see everyone and enjoy the lake his aunt and uncle live on.

Friday June 29th around 5 o'clock we were finally able to go home, where we could enjoy peace and quiet.( No more construction going on underneath of us-good old university of Kentucky with their endless construction). We were lucky to have my mom and dad here to take us home and help out for the first few days. It was wonderful having them here. I could pass Lilly off at 3am, when she decided to be bright-eyed after her feeding, because she had her days and nights mixed up. (Should of figured she would since before she was born every night right at 11pm when i would want to go to sleep she would start kicking and having hiccups). Luckily by the end of their stay she had figured out her days and nights so we got a little more sleep.We had some unseasonable nice weather and were able to enjoy the new table and chairs we had just got from my parents. ( a college graduation gift-that's right i graduated three years ago)

My parents left Tuesday morning and tom's parents and brother, Jon, arrived Tuesday evening. It was a blessing having them here to help out. We were able to get out and do some shopping, have a cook-out to celebrate the 4th of July and celebrate my birthday with a dinner out to Johnny Carino's. We were also blessed to have dinners made for us every night of the week from our Small Group class at church.

GIRL

Lillian Ruth Kaden arrived June 27th at 10:35pm. She was 7lbs. 7oz. and 20 1/2 in. long.
After being three days late, the doctor decided to go ahead and induce me. After going out to eat with my sister, Katie, we arrived at the hospital and were settled in our room by 2pm. At that time they started the pitocin, I was 2-3cm dilated. I was having contractions every few minutes but wasn't really feeling them. Around 4 they checked me again and I was 4cm so they decided to break my water. After one contraction I was very welcoming to the epidural. Sometime around 9:30 the doctor finally checked me again and I was complete and it was time to push. After 45 min. of pushing Lillian was born. Unfortunately for me she came out face up instead of face down, which caused a 4 degree laceration and 45 min. of stitching. I am pretty sure that after seeing me after my labor my sister Katie never wants to have children.

Four months later, on LOST party Wed., SURPRISE we found out we were pregnant. The first trimester brought a general nauseated feeling and a feeling of always being tired. The second trimester was wonderful and so was the third until the last few weeks. By the last few weeks iel 100 degrees all the time, and i just wanted to hold her/him in my arms finally.

.....and the Honeymoon (and no the baby did not come yet):
We went to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone national Park for our honeymoon. It was one of thee most beautiful and magnificent places both of us had even been. We look forward to the day we will be able to return again.

Once we arrived home from our honeymoon we spent some time with our families then packed a uhaul to the brim and started our journey to Wilmore, Kentucky. Tom had begun going to Asbury Seminary, located in Wilmore, to get his MDiv (masters of Divinity) a year ago and I now joined him. Tom continued his schooling and I got a job working in the cardiac cath lab at UK hospital. We both also began helping out with the Nicholasville united Methodist youth group, which we both LOVE.

Our Story

As the saying goes:

First Comes LOVE:
Tom and I meet Oct. of 2004. Tom previously attended Messiah College and during that time began working as an intern at CEFC, my home church. After we graduated in 2004 Tom really felt the need to stay and continue helping out with the youth group. At the same time I finished nursing school and returned home to work at Harrisburg Hospital, one of the local hospital. Little did we know what God had in store for us. Our first date was on Tom's birthday and from there the rest is history.

Then comes marriage:
A day for celebration. Tom and I were married on June 3rd 2006. The ceremony was perfect. The reception was beautiful and had amazing wonderful food, however the management running the place not so amazing, it made for quite an interesting day. If you were there, then you understand. We have lots of good memories, which we can now laugh about.
